Linking Downloadable PDF Documents

BoltTheme allows you to offer downloadable PDF files (such as product specs sheets, service brochures, catalog packages, or official store policies) directly on your Services Page and Legal Policy templates.

Because the Shopify Theme Editor does not host file uploads directly inside theme text fields, you must host your documents on Shopify’s file delivery network (CDN) and link to them.

️Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Follow these steps to upload and link your downloadable PDF documents:

Step 1: Upload your PDF to Shopify Content Manager

To get a direct, fast-loading URL for your document, host it in Shopify’s native file system:

Go to your Shopify Admin.
Navigate to Content > Files in the left sidebar menu.
Click the Upload files button in the top-right corner.
Select the PDF document from your computer and upload it.
Once uploaded, locate the file in the list and click the Link icon (Copy URL) button next to it. The URL is now copied to your clipboard.

Example Shopify URL:* https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/.../brochure.pdf?v=123

Step 2: Paste the URL in the Theme Editor

Now link the copied CDN URL to your target template page.

To Add a Download Link on the Services Page:

Open the Theme Editor and navigate to your Services template page.
Select your service block (e.g. Premium Support Pack) in the sidebar menu.
Scroll down in the block settings to the PDF download link input field.
Paste the copied CDN URL.
In the Download button label field, type your custom text (e.g. Download Specs Sheet or Download Brochure).
Click Save.

To Add a Download Link on Legal/Policy Pages:

Navigate to your Legal Page template inside the Theme Editor.
Select the policy section block (e.g., Terms of Service card).
Locate the PDF download link input field and paste the URL.
Customize the button text (defaults to Download PDF Version).
Click Save.

️Important Best Practices

Do not paste relative links (such as files/document.pdf) or external local folder paths (such as C:/documents/file.pdf) inside the input fields. The theme requires absolute URLs starting with http:// or https:// (preferably Shopify’s CDN links) to function correctly for your storefront visitors.
